Purity is a lifestyle, not a state of being. The pursuit of purity does not conclude once you have entered into marriage, but is a process you must continue for a lifetime! A ring on your finger symbolizing your commitment to abstinence cannot make you pure, just as good works cannot make you righteous. In the end, you are still a sinner in need of a Savior.
When you think about it, being “pure” ultimately has nothing to do with whether or not you have engaged in pre-marital sex, but instead has everything to do with living a life devoted to the glory of God.
You see, while saving yourself for marriage is a beautiful thing that most definitely brings glory to God, being a virgin does not somehow make you any more deserving of God’s grace than your Christian sister who is not.
And so, if you find yourself struggling with sexual sin, you are NOT a lost cause. Pour out your heart to the one who created it and confide in you Christian sisters so that they may encourage you, hold you accountable, and fight alongside you in prayer.
And if you find yourself trodding steadily along the arduous path to purity, do not give up! Though you may grow weary, seek Christ above all and you will find your spirit renewed. For he alone is the source of your strength.
Keep seeking Him first!
